Anyone have any experience with these plug-ins that go into unused AC outlets on your system's circuit? They've received some rave reviews, but from places whose opinions I historically haven't agreed with very often. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! TIA!

any feedback yet on the Magnetic Waveguides?
Thx
Hey, Lew:
Actually, they only just shipped on Wednesday, from Texas. HFC claimed they would have the next batch ready for shipping within a week, but that turned out to be a little optimistic. At any rate, they're scheduled for delivery this coming Monday.
According to my contact at the Cable Company, the Waveguides take 24-48 hours to "settle in," so I should have some solid impressions by next weekend. I'll be reporting back then.

I have many of the MC-.05's. I really like them. Best bang for the buck within the High Fidelity line, at least in opinion.
If they outright suck or produce no easily discernible improvements, I'll just return them and chalk up the return postage as a learning experience. :)
Regardless, whether they're great or bad or mediocre, I'll definitely report back with my impressions.

Please do report back. Very interested in what your impressions are.
Thanks!
Bill
I bought one and liked it, then bought a second one. I like them, but do not want to buy a third one. I would say buy one or two, then work on other parts of your system, such as Entreq ground boxes, Nordost QV2, USB Disruptor, and other Tweeks.

I know Robert Shaw uttered that line in "Jaws", but having just recently seen him as Henry VIII in "A Man for All Seasons", the quote seems so incongruous. I guess that's called "acting".
He buried himself in his roles. Ask Richard Dreyfuss--that combative Quint persona definitely spilled over into real life!
Haven't seen "A Man for All Seasons" in a long time. May have to check it out again.

The great British actors of the 40s, 50s, and 60s probably excelled most on the live stage. I saw Olivier play Othello in London and, years later, Nicol Williamson in "The Last Angry Man", also in London. These were unforgettable experiences. Robert Shaw was wasted in a few trivial but blockbuster movies, other than Jaws and Man for All Seasons, but he was up there in that category. For instance, he was the sinister assassin who fought to the death with Sean Connery as Bond, in a compartment on a train. I think it was either "Dr. No" or "From Russia.." The two of them did make the scene very real and visceral.Sorry this is very OT, but I do love movies.
I do look forward to your impression of the magnets and what they do or don't do.

You might consult that thread, which is pretty lengthy but is dominated by about half a dozen admirers of these products. I can see where surrounding a signal carrying wire with a magnetic field might do "something", but I don't see why magnets should do anything when mounted on unused electrical outlets. Yet, some claim two Magnetic Waveguides are better than one, three better than two, etc. Ya gotta love that name.
Quint....First I have to ask some questions: Do you think you have a problem? If you do how have you come to the conclusion? If the results are positive how do you plan to mitigate it?I'm not disavowing these working. I had a problem in a plant I was working in at the time trying to quiet electrical noise on a signal line caused by a VFD that would spike voltage high enough to falsely trip an alarm. I spent a week trying capacitors to shunt the noise to ground (look up capacitive reactance)with partial success. They bought in a specialty outfit that put ferrite beads everywhere until the alarm trip stopped. I'll bet they spent over $20,000 between me and them when for about the same money they could have moved the wire.
Just sayin'

Good question, Mike. That's the thing. I'm not sure I have a problem, per se. The system sounds pretty good to me, and most people who've heard it have liked it. Some like it a lot.
That said, if I could IMPROVE the sound significantly for a little over $500, maybe I should at least give these things a try. More than a few people on Audiogon seem to have had positive experiences with them. I would get a 30-day trial and just be out return shipping if they didn't work as advertised. But, as I mentioned to Lew below, something about the zeal with which people treat HFC products rings the alarm bells for me, and I'm not sure I should risk even the return shipping.
I dunno. It's a quandary!

Checked out the thread until my eyes bulged! Thanks for that. There's certainly a healthy love for Rick's stuff. Don't know if that's enough to convince me to take the plunge on the 0.5s, but you never know.

I agree it's love, of the typical irrational type.
Yeah, it borders--and maybe crosses over into--fanaticism, and that's why I haven't tried them yet. Something about the white-hot zeal with which people treat his stuff makes me a little leery. Maybe it shouldn't. Who knows?
