The pinout is different. Also, the back plate (case) is different in this instance.
If you want an improvement, check into the (LN,LDO)Low Noise, Low Dropout Vregs from LT.

They ARE the same pinout. But of course the negative and postive regs have different pinouts - so LM317 is the same as LT1085, and LM337 is the same as LT1022
Also they both come in the same TO-220 package.
Good thing about the LT1085/1022 is they are low dropout which means they don't need as much voltage across them as the normal LM317s
Cougar referenced the LT1033 and LT1085.
Please revisit the pin configuration.
Also, they're not LN and LDO.

Typo - I meant LT1033 not LT1022 (which is actually an opamp.) But the pinouts are the same as the corresponding LM317/337
