If they are still NOS after 15 years, you might want to check the actual capacitance and the ESR before installing them. They could be on the road to ruin after such a long storage period, but they are probably salvageable if brought back slowly. One way to evaluate condition is to measure ESR compared to a known newer capacitor of the same value and type. If the ESR is increased in the BG, that's a sign of aging. I have some beautiful ELNA Cerafines that are slowly going bad because I have no use for them. Periodically, I try to goose them up by putting them on my capacitor tester and ramping up the V.
Lew, I'm not going to use them. I'm trying to trade them for some absolutely fantastic PAScaps that don't exist. They seem a bit old to me to use but someone else may want to take a chance on them. Tweaker
I did not intend to make you yearn for the unobtainable PAScaps. There are certainly many other brands and types of caps that also sound very good. And the nice thing about those other capacitors is that you can actually find and buy them. For me, finding in retrospect that both the 0.22uF PAScaps, that I once took out of my Atma-sphere gear in order to replace them with teflon caps, and the 2.0uF PAScaps that I originally bought cheaply for my speakers, are excellent in electronics was pure serendipity. For what it's worth, "PAS" appears only on the 0.22uF capacitors. The name of the company was "Pacific Audio Supply" or something like that. Just like "REL" is short for Reliable Capacitor.
Vcaps, IMO, are every bit as good as or better than PAScaps. But it's all a matter of one's own opinion.
The Vcap should be at about 10 times the cost. Everyone seems to like some form of Vcap. Tweaker
Expensive, yes. But also a real world improvement.
...but entry-level or not, probably they'll sound excellent in an application they're suited for. You could check sizes on Michael Percy's catalog page.

Yes, they are likely the STD. My price range back in the day and they have no letter after the Black Gate label. Tweaker
