Thanks...was afraid of that. Wanted to use Def. Tech. BP8's,
seems the crossover freq. is kept secret. 3K might be close though.
I have some similar sized Klipsch Synergy's that ARE bi-ampable
so I'll look into that too.
Follow Ups:
Keep in mind that the mini-system has a spec of 10% THD. Since it's not a high performance unit, more resolving and demanding loudspeakers will simply make this shortcoming more obvious.
It's 10% THD at the rated power but I'm sure it's 1% or less at 50-75% of the rated power. Sure there is a lot, no tons of room for improvement but it isn't 10% THD at all power levels.

Point well taken, Awe-d-o-file. Perhaps I'm conveying how counter-productive it is to try to adapt the use of low-fi gear with a greater goal.
IMHO, the OP would be better off choosing inexpensive source components and a T-Amp with loudspeakers of his choice rather than try to expand a mini-system with dubious quality bi-amp outputs.
my 2 cents
I agree with that too. I guess he's trying to make do with what is on hand. Those mini systems have bad tuners, CD players and don't usually have good tone controls either. Plastic poo!
