To Old Steve A:
Congratulations on an outstanding power conditioner. I think you are right with the statement "comparing apples and pears. Like you I also have a nice headphone system. I have added the Synergistic Grounding Block to the system and it certainly has improved the sound of the Sennheiser 800 headphones.
In reguards to cryoing I have cryo treated my amp (Eddie Current Zana Deux ), headphones, and the headphone cables.
The cryo treatment (Cryogenics International )plus the Grounding Block work extremely well together.
How either "works" nobody knows but the sound is fabulous.
I purchased three of these at $7.00 each...
#1 on the USB Port of my laptop in my living room music system...
#2 on the USB Port of my DSL Modem Router in my computer room...
#3 on the USB Port of my Sony Paystation 3 in my Home Theater system...
Does an excellent job at lowering the noise floor in both Audio and Video...
I do not understand this limitation for the cables.
I guess that the metallic case of a connector in a signal cable should be isolated from the ground pin ...
But why not hard plastic by the way ? like nylon for instance.
Kind regards,
bg
The Telleq unit certainly has it's followers- There is a huge thread at Whats Best Audio Forum in the General discussion section. Another thread of interest is the much more expensive Tripoint Company grounding unit thread.
For years Acoustic Revive has put out the RGC-24 Ground Conditioner
Three recent additions are a ground conditioner out of Poland (name?), Telos Audio (Asian) now makes an active ground conditioner ( the only "active" unit I am aware of, and the Synergistic Revive Grounding Block.
I have the Acoustic Revive and Synergistic Research units. Both have an audible effect on the sound as well described in the online reviews.
I am currently using the Synergistic Research Grounding Block unit and cables in my speaker system and another Grounding Block unit in my dedicated headphone system.
The sound change is better focus, more flow to the music, and more emotion to the music.
Do these products work like Uncle Stu's battery+capacitor to ground tweek, or like Bub Purvine's wire loop on negative terminals, or a different mechanism I do not know.
I have tried several variations of Bud's wire loop. I could hear a change but "musicality suffered" so they are not in the system.
The Synergistic Research Grounding Blocks have been in the systems for 8 weeks and they are staying in place.
On a side note but related to the "grounding wire", I have reconditioned all my cables with an Audiodharma Cable Cooker with it's new accessory that also conditions the cables ground (the Ground Breaker). This has made a significant improvement to cables that have multi hundreds of hours on them and are reconditioned every six mouths. To those that have an Audiodharma Cable Cooker I do recommend buying the Ground Breaker.
This whole area of equipment grounding, interconnect grounding, and power cord grounding is very interesting. Commercial products and DIY devices do change the sound when applied to these areas.
