. . . is this tweak safe to install on my computer?
As it happens, I've just tried the BGT thing on my Fit-PC2 music-playing computer, connecting it via a USB socket (obviously, V- only with V+ & D+/- disconnected). Despite the Fit having a pretty good, Swenson-designed C-L-C PSU, there's a very worthwhile difference. It's been running for several hours here; seems safe.
Have a go and report back . . .

Dave, is the case (in your case) also connected to V-?
Just curious... Tnx, Rick

I pretty sure I'm right in assuming that the Fit-PC's case is grounded but it'll be tomorrow before I can, er, case the joints. Whatever, I've since added a second BGT thingie to the digital side of things, this time to the USB> I2S board. That hasn't even got a case to be grounded but the resulting SQ "pop" was so marked as to be a bit scary.
Details t/f in a day or two following delivery of better quality bits (not bits-is-bits bits but components).
Please don't ask me to make a case for the USB> I2S boar so I can try grounding it . . .
