After almost a year with a couple sets of the free sample black discus, I had pretty much forgotten about them.
Recently, I upgraded, to much success, my conditioner outlet to a furutch gtx with the plate and cover, and also added the furutech plate and cover to the wattgate that feeds my amp.
this recent improvemwnt in sound led me to play more with placement with the BD, and as it turns out, they are very placement AND component sensitive.
To wit, I had two on the underbelly of my CD player, and I removed them tonight to re examine there effectiveness, because the furutech had really increased my systems resolution. Lo and behold, the BD were of no benefit in that space, and actually made the player sound worse. They masked detail, clipped the lowest octave of bass, which made the sound loose weight. They also closed in the soundstage. I was shocked!
They definitely help when used on power cords, but they did not help being placed near the transport mechanism of the CD player. So, I just wanted those who have tried them, to make sure they really experiment with placement, because it is very critical!
Follow Ups:
I have my two free MSA black discus samples on the end of the digital interconnect (XLR) that is plugged into the digital output of my Universal player. The other one is placed on the power cord of the universal player. A few months back I was listening to my system and for some reason it did not sound as good as I remember it usually sounding. After about 20-30 minutes, I started to investigate and got my flashlight out to look behind my rack of stereo equipment. Lo and behold, the black discus that I placed on the digital interconnect at the universal player end had fallen off! After I got some sticky tack and replaced it on the digital interconnect, my stereo system sounded like it used to (a more analog and flowing sound). This proves that the black discus has an effect when placed on the interconnect.
I just ordered some more black discus, and will report back after I get a chance to "experiment" with them.

Some MSA stuff on my amps. On the electrolytic caps sonic benefit was most obvious. I use two face to face with a copper foil sheet between two.
And yeah that is a salt treated rutile quartz on the double cupcakes
Mmmm cupcakes and the warm glow of tubes....Unclestu, what is in the three wooden boxes???

Ahhh....you weren't supposed to ask.
But I find that a flashing 5MM white LED ultra bright diode shining on a piece of alexandrite (synthetic so as to be affordable) has a an audible effect on magnetic properties: speakers, transformers, etc.
Maybe i'll write more later but since I get blasted with the crystals by themselves I think I'll keep mum for a while. Too many people think I'm wacko already....LOL!!!!
Not that I really care, though. I have to gather my thoughts first and do further experimentation.
Here I believe the effect is QED, but write the dreaded word quantum and expect everyone to dump on you....
ay off the left end already.
LOL!!!!! Not that I really care.
LoL...i know i know i know.....Unclestu you are four star with me * * * * and to a lot of others
after all this is "The Asylum"

Thanks! for sharing -guys.
I find these to be very beneficial in my music only system and my home theater system if used in extreme moderation. By that I mean that I cannot use them in the locations normally suggested with out drying out the sound, robbing it of life and making it less open and musical. I find that one of the smaller sample size devices work best in most applications. I ordered extra of these. I use them over the Alan Maher PLC devices that are connected to various components. I cannot always use them immediately next to these devices either. In some critical locations I need to separate them by an inch or two to achieve the benefits without the detriments. In some instances I use them over a lens filter sized case filled with zinc coated B B's placed above the PLC.
