Pulled the trigger and ordered a spiffy low-cost PSU upgrade. It's pretty unique in terms of audiophile marketplace availability around its low $42 price point. While it's nothing too special, it might perform considerably better than a linear regulated wall wart, which replaced a stock 5VDC switch mode wall wart that came with a high-quality Ambery AUMP-2PA Toslink splitter/repeater unit, for use with a Lifatec Silflex Glass Toslink cable out of an Apple iMac mini-Toslink digital audio output jack, plugged into a Monarchy Audio DIP, with another Toslink cable run to another audio system across the listening room, into a second Monarchy Audio DIP for use in that audio system. Replacing the stock switch mode wall wart with a basic linear regulated wall wart was well-worth the few extra dollars spent, so even if only subtle sonic betterment is perceived, the next-level PSU upgrade should be an interesting thing to evaluate, hopefully without caveat. A lateral move is the lowest expectation, so it's a worthy effort to explore without much concern.

Duster, that looks like a good move up for a lower noise floor. You may want to remove that Fair-Rite bead from your DC umbilical, in my 52 years of audio i have not once heard a Fair-rite bead improve sound quality but i have heard them degrade sound quality.

I agree that a ferrite bead can do more sonic harm than good when clamped on a line-level interconnect, digital cable, or AC power cord, but there is minimal sonic affect for better or worse when a ferrite bead is placed on a DC umbilical, IME. That said, I have replaced all stock PVC insulated DC umbilicals for all outboard power supplies I use with DIY SPC/PTFE mil-spec DC umbilicals, without the use of ferrite beads. I'll make a decision at some point whether or not I'll build yet another DIY DC umbilical for the new power supply, as well.
Duster, so how does the new setup sound in your system?

The PSU is in the mail. I'll likely post a report in this forum at some point.
