but the at14sa is a high compliance cartridge that wants a light arm. so adding mass, theoretically, should not be warranted, needed, ect.
But still it could be the case that the added weight is the beneficial cause of the effect.
This heaviest weight is .5 grams among this little can of brass and I used the smallest size.
Follow Ups:
At .5 grams it's unlikely that it's the tonearm mass/cartridge compliance match but what cartridge on what arm?
Other wise I would assume that mass loading the cartridge body is damping some resonance.

The table is the Pioneer PL-7 with the low mass "Polymer Graphite" arm.
cheap table.
the cartridge is the high compliance Audio Technica AT14SA.I have tried damping of various sorts, added a small magnet to the front piece, etc so am more willing to believe it is the resonance of the brass rather than it's mass. there is no damping with brass. there is an added resonance. and that added resonance may be similar to what the PHT accomplishes. But I do not know any of that for sure. it sounds good though - as an explanation and as the result.

The manual for the turntable doesn't give the effective mass of the arm and the cartridge's compliance is listed for 100Hz and I need to know that it is at 10Hz so I can't do the math.
Oh well.
Enjoy.
