Well, as the saying goes," everybody knows that..."
The question is, is it going to blow up my player?

I can't answer that with any certainty. Yes in the event of an internal catastrophic AC ground fault event YES the fuse will blow. But what if a component fails and causes an overload condition and because instead of the safety factor the manufacture/Design Engineer built into the CDP by using a 1 amp fuse the overload condition could well exceed 1.6 amps before the fuse blows and opens the circuit. Will other components be damaged as well before the fuse blows?
It's you decision to make in the end. If it's just a cheapo CDP and something does go wrong and the fuse blows and the repair cost is more than the unit is worth you just throw it away and buy a new one. Hell I have read on this forum where guys have eliminated the fuse altogether for better sound of a piece of equipment.
Final note, if you asked the same question of the manufacture/ Design Engineer about replacing his 1 amp fuse with a 1.6 amp fuse what do you think his response would be?
Best of luck,
Jim
Hello, Does anyone know if there is a difference between a slow blow fuse and a Time lag fuse. I would like to get some Hifi Tuning fuses for my B&K AVR505 receiver for the internal line fuses and the B&K specification lists a 6A Time Lag fuse. Can I used a 6A slow blow fuse in this application? Thanks.

It will be fine. The tolerances of fuses anyway means that there's little difference in reality between the two. Any fault condition that will blow a 1A fuse will also blow a 1.6A fuse.
