That is interesting. I've been buying Chinese assembled circuits using the LM317 series and they are inexpensive and relatively good sounding, especially for the price. I am waiting for a 'precision' circuit currently to arrive, but I am NOT sure exactly what makes it precision. I will have a listen when it comes.
Follow Ups:
For good performance, it is necessary t use 'super' regulators in which a very low noise opamp controls the output of a current providing transistor. Pre regulation into this array is even better.
LM317 and the 78 and 7 series of ICs just don't cut the ice. It is easy to hear differences.
Do you know the offset requirement of these Belleson regulators?
If I have 15 volts DC in (if I choose to pre-regulate, for instance), what can I expect as maximum output voltage?
Go to the Belleson site; the info is very clear.
Mind, they are not cheap and you should use them where they benefit most.
