Rutile quartz may not be for you. IT is
on the brighter side, akin to amethyst and aqua aura, but the top end is different. TOp end is more extended and to my ears more.even. the top end extension is also dependent on size and the clarity of base Crystal determined fine detail

Rutilated with what? A little research shows that gold, silver, black tourmaline or a red mineral may be the hair-like rutilations that are part of the crystal. The crystal may have a blue tinge to it as well, something on the order of Aqua Aura blue. Some are cloudy, some are clear, and what of the faceted shapes vs. round/disk shapes. I've never had good luck with plain or pink quartz crystals. Amethyst, Pink Tourmaline and Aqua Aura have always worked well. Shungite has proven ineffective and Amazonite proved to be overbearing, and was quickly dispatched. I'll get some golden topaz soon and if you would care to clue-me-in, a little more with the rutilated quartz, I'll try that as well.
I use the ones with the black inclusions:titanium dioxide which.has.interesting catalytic properties (look.up phiten). i like the ones with the clearest.substrate. also find spherical.ones.seem to work best and i get these at bead shops or suppliers. i like to.go down in person and can select the crystals i like.
Shungite.works.best.over.highly magnetic fields:speaker, transformers.
.Aqua aura.is.man made and has a.thin gold flash applied.to the base
quartz. I like the round beads here too.
