I came across this schematic table for resistors to match ohm levels so you can use the speaker outputs for headphones. None of the table are for 300ohm headphones(HD600) I have a DIY set amp at about 4 watts into 8ohms. Can anyone help with the correct resister values?
Thanks,
Jeff

The Rod Elliot circuit assumes that it is VERY important to maintain a 120 ohm output impedance, and my own experience has been that this is NOT necessary, and in fact, will actually degrade the sound coming from almost all headphones.
Diaphragm resonances and related issues, make having a lower output impedance quite helpful.
His circuit also sends the signal through TWO series resistors, which effectively doubles the damage done by the quality (or lack thereof) of the resistors.
I have received a lot of very positive feedback over the years about the circuit I recommend, and the only negative (one) was a gentleman who ignored the warning about amps that do not allow a common ground connection between the L and R channels. He damaged his power amp when he connected the circuit and turned it on.
It should be noted that the same warning is given at the Rod Elliot article, for the same reason.

Thanks Jon! I built a test of your circuit last night and sounds great with my Weston W40's When the HD600's return from the audio hospital I will see how the high impedance phones sound with the circuit. I might rebuild with 270ohm and 27ohm to ground values. Then I will then order "good" resistors for the final build.
Thanks again
Jeff
I'd reduce the value of R1 to around 50 (47) and then it should be good enough as it is but forget the switch, just connect either it or the speakers to the amp. I'd use carbon comp and maybe 1 watters too, just a personal taste thing.
