Anyone know of an "Audiophile" version of this device? My system (and ears) are sensitive to "proper" absolute polarity, but in my current setup I have no convenient way to switch (either at the preamp or DAC). I've tried the item pictured below, placed at the inputs of my amps. Sure, they provided the ability to switch polarity back and forth, but unfortunately caused a loss in transparency, too much of a sonic liability. So I've reverted back to accomplishing this at the speaker leads. A pain.
I've also tried 1-way reversers, placed in the chain just for reversed polarity, but they're even worse, as they introduce the reduced fidelity to just one polarity position.
A super neutral version of this gadget would be a nice find for PhasePhools like me. Not as sweet as a remote-controlled solution, but better than screwing around behind speakers.

I too am sensitive to polarity. Unfortunately, there are few transparent dacs/preamps (passive ones as well) that cater for instantaneous switching.
My Placette balanced does this, so does my Lightstar Direct do this, but they were expensive.
For those that use Audirvana+ or Pure Music, polarity inversion is automatic when INVERTPOLARITY is entered for that selection in the iTunes comments file (and the option is chosen within the player settings).
Best regards,
Jim Smith

Perhaps the inverted position needs breaking in? On single ended phono stages i've installed a 4 pole double throw switch at inputs with no loss on fidelity. I also make sure my DACs have a polarity switch. You could install such a switch on the outputs of your preamp or build a small junction box using quality wire and ends and a nice switch.

John Broskie offers this switch which I use for my phono (between the cartridge and the input to the phono stage).
I have not detected any loss of any kind. I was skeptical at first but this switch does have large contact areas and I bet that is the key.
I used to use the best toggle switches I could find but find this to be every but as good and easier to deal with when your phono stage is mounted on your turntable, as mine is. The vertical movement of the toggle switch would affect the stability of the turntable - this rotary switch makes it easy to make changes.
Broskie likes the mute setting he has put between the two polarities, he thinks it makes it easier to hear the right choice. I have not found it useful for that but it is a good mute switch! The only one one needs.
You can buy 2 1/2 of these with the postage alone!
Well, it is not that expensive to begin with!
One could probably, if determined, add a stepper motor.
I like the excuse of getting up to change it
I needed a plug in speaker for my motherboard (boot up bleeper). In UK on eBay, they want anything between £3-6 and postage £1.99.
So I went to Amazon and found a Chinese seller offering 10 for £1.99 including postage.
Guess where I bought them from? It took about 10 days instead of 3-5 but I shall never need to buy another one!
You would think someone was paying the seller to get rid of he things!
If I try to buy from the US, I am often deterred by postage costs. When I buy in UK or western EU, postage is reasonable. Wen I buy from eBayUK or AmazonUK items delivered from China, postage for small items is often free, and the items are really cheap. They even arrive quite fast and sometimes with Royal Mail stamps on the envelope, but the origin seems to be southern China!
I don't think Chinese companies sell at a loss. It must be volume?
Thanks. Even better if one can find a remote controlled one
