In Reply to: RE: Ordered another wattgate 381- where to install it. posted by Duster on August 18, 2014 at 13:11:25
Curiously, my unit does not have a gfci outlet. Mine looks like this.
I'm assuming its plug and play. I also am not using the digital filter, I've been using the plain old high current outlet. Yes I know I'm negating the whole balanced power by using that outlet, but it just sounds better to my ear that way.I'm assuming that inside my unit, unlike this one, have all outlets with straps, as seen on the far left. It appears that this unit has the gfci outlets, unlike mine. Looks simple enough. I can get a maestro tomorrow if I wanted. What do you think as an upgrade for the stock outlet in there?

I think a modest-priced Furutech FPX Cu AC outlet would be a good drop-in replacement.

Thanks duster. Any comment on the maestro? It's also unplated copper.
It seems to be a supercharged hardware store variety AC outlet.
Gotcha
Okay- how about an r-1 in the conditioner? Or- I could pull the wattgate from the wall, use THAT In the conditioner and use the r-1 in the wall to feed the preamp and amp directly..... What would be the sonic differences between the r-1 and the 381ag?
