In Reply to: RE: Ordered another wattgate 381- where to install it. posted by Audiolover718 on July 21, 2014 at 20:54:25
..was wondering how you got to Wattgate?? (instead of Oyeida, Furutech, etc.) I would put the plug closest to the wall.

I already have one, and I'm happy with it. Expanded the system to two outlets, needed another. Figured I wouldn't mess with the sauce.
Which model Wattgate AC outlet do you currently use, the gold or silver version? What make/model AC plugs are plugged into it at this time?
Hi Duster- I'm using the silver wattgate. This is on a 20 amp line. The duplex feeds only my arc pre and power amps directly, with their stock power cords.I've ordered another, for another outlet which lies on a different 15 amp circuit. This feeds the other equipment, which is fed by a regulator and conditioner in tandem. The current duplex in there is a standard leviton hospital grade. (Not the orange one, which people seem to hate)
I went with the silver again, because i enjoy the crisp sound and resolution it provides.
It dawned on me that I could install it on my power conditioner as well, so I thought I would discuss that potential option on integrating it into the system.

Since you already enjoy a silver Wattgate at the wall, I think you may also find that you enjoy the new silver Wattgate at the wall as well, especially since there are multiple downstream power distributors within the AC delivery chain.
YMMV
Hi duster-so now I'm ready to change out the outlet in my power conditioner that feeds my CD player. Any recommendations for an outlet at this point? I'm assuming the outlets in my htps7000mkII are garbage, and could use this tweak, even if only at that specific outlet.
I'm looking for micro detail and an even bigger holographic soundstage. Also, how difficult do you think it is to replace the outlets in this unit? I would suspect its no harder than replacing an outlet at the wall, correct? Unless there is some modified version of an outlet in there. Thanks for your help.
The digital filter AC outlet appears to be a GFCI outlet. If you post a picture of the AC outlets as viewed from inside the enclosure, it would be helpful.
Curiously, my unit does not have a gfci outlet. Mine looks like this.
I'm assuming its plug and play. I also am not using the digital filter, I've been using the plain old high current outlet. Yes I know I'm negating the whole balanced power by using that outlet, but it just sounds better to my ear that way.I'm assuming that inside my unit, unlike this one, have all outlets with straps, as seen on the far left. It appears that this unit has the gfci outlets, unlike mine. Looks simple enough. I can get a maestro tomorrow if I wanted. What do you think as an upgrade for the stock outlet in there?

I think a modest-priced Furutech FPX Cu AC outlet would be a good drop-in replacement.
See link:
Thanks duster. Any comment on the maestro? It's also unplated copper.
It seems to be a supercharged hardware store variety AC outlet.
Gotcha
Okay- how about an r-1 in the conditioner? Or- I could pull the wattgate from the wall, use THAT In the conditioner and use the r-1 in the wall to feed the preamp and amp directly..... What would be the sonic differences between the r-1 and the 381ag?
