Recent system re-configuration means longer IC's to my amps. Which means I need to keep them away from the power cords and have been looking for a quick/cheap solution. Stumbled on these and thought I would share.
$10-15 should get me what I need. May swing by the local restaurant discount supply houses instead of ordering...see if I can find something similar.

Less claustrophobic for the cables.
Are we after dampening or separation from the static of the carpet, or ultimately both? I'd think plastic risers would have static themselves.
The Ceramic powerline insulatorslook like a class act but may be too hard to provide damping. suspending them from strings from the ceiling sounds like the ultimate isolator but with little damping. Paper Mache filled with sand sounds good to me.
Before you spend big bucks on this stuff, use toilet paper cardboard inner tube cut for use. Cable elevators never did anything pro or con for my stuff.
Thanks! for sharing.
Yours is the first reply that didn't offer an alternative or debate the merits of lifting a cable off the floor.
Sometimes you just want to post something saying "hey guys, here's an idea to share". I love these forums, but sometimes it can feel like we all don't really read the posts before responding (that includes me too!).

I get that, but since there's no "no replies please" button, what generally is accepted, in my opinion, is discussion related to themes presented.

When someone searches for some idea, and can read the many posts on the topic say five years from now.. It will be good.
Yeah, I agree. Was in a pissy mood (finals week) and wrote before thinking. Was more taken aback that the posts debating the merits of cable elevators ignored my stated goal of getting the IC's away from the PC's than whether it was necessary to get cords off the floor. I did like the wooden hands idea.
All's cool.
Actually they're paper mache filled with sand. I bought them at the Crafts store. I think they're intended for jewelry display.

Made for model railroaders. Look cool supporting speaker cables.
I'll just take the cable escalator and walk.

I like the look of what you're considering.
For me, a little whimsy came into play.

I like the speakers, regardless.
Did you do a before vs after comparison re the cable elevators?
Dunlavy SC-IVA's in my two channel music system. I have a pair of Alethas (the black speaker in the picture), used as the side surrounds of my 7.1 Channel surround system for movies. If the IVA's ever crap out, the Alethas will go into the two channel system.
I can't say I hear anything to speak of with or without the cables off the floor. So I do it because it feels like the right thing to do. In other words, just because.

I bought into the cable elevator concept 100% and never bothered to find out whether the things actually worked. Then I decided to move speakers and self-powered subs to positions where I ran the risk of continually tripping over the elevated cables, so I reluctantly put the cables on the floor. Can't tell the slightest difference. Just be sure that YOU can :-)
Thank You for your objectivity. It's a well-known phenomenon that most of us who invest time and money into some alleged improvement hear some difference and label it "better."
To hear someone say they've made the investment and can hear no difference is refreshing, and suggests you strive to be objective.
try empty toilet paper rolls or pieces of cardboard that will lift the cables 3-4 inches off the floor. If you hear a difference, OK. If not, you've lost a little bit of time but no cash.

That was the Al Sekela formula. If the paper rolls work, then fill them with a baggie of kitty litter for stability and they work fine.
In this case I can definitely tell the difference. I run 3m unshielded IC's and there's no way to avoid crossing over the power cords for the amps (Acoustat direct drive servos). Other than the RFI/EMI interference I couldn't tell you if the rest of the run makes a difference being off the floor or not.
I agree in all the years of being in this crazy stuff I have never heard a difference and I do nothing to dress cables here. It's dead quiet.
.
I also like to use foam rings to separate line-level cables, speaker cables, and power cords where they cross.
works for me

By denying scientific principles, one may maintain any paradox.

Unless you are in to appearance, you could use spring loaded clothes pins. Just clip the clothes pin around the cable and stand the pin on its "legs".
Just a thought after seeing your link.
