Duster,
That makes a tremendous amt of sense. For all the amount of praise I that I "heaped on" my systems performance that explains why playback seems a little less "dynamic" sometimes.
The LPS I was "tip toe around a bit" is for my Auraliti PK100 that does'nt use a "real" power
supply ,but a switching one. I went back to one of the Auraliti product pages & re-read the information pages. On one of the pages they suggest not using an external USB drive of more than 2Tbs with the player.. I was using a few 500 gig drives which I would switch between & changed to a 1Tb drive with more larger files on it.
This is great news as it gives my fairly "High Performance/ Semi Bargain" Digital File Player even more "headroom" for a non Audiophile expenditure. Thanks (what no smiley face icons
I can insert; bummer)

If you are not willing/able to buy an expensive audiophile PSU for maximum performance, a humble Tripp Lite power supply like the one listed on eBay (see link below) would be a major improvement vs. a switching power supply. Even a good quality regulated linear PSU wall wart will sound better than a switch mode wall wart, IME.
What Duster said, indeed.
My system's power is conditioned by a 15KVA-rated Topaz ultra-isolator, and a couple more smaller ultra-isolation trannies to separate the digital gear from the rest.
That digital gear involves a Mac Mini with the music on an external drive. This autumn I powered that external drive with a used Acopian Gold Box linear regulated supply. The difference was much more noticeable than I expected.
Linear power supplies for the Mini are harder to find but I am looking forward to hearing what one can do quite soon.
Computer Audiophile forum is an excellent place to explore the topic.
See link:
No, I think you may have misunderstood what I was saying there are actually 2 dedicated LPSs designed to work with this player that are "not" that expensive compared to what you normally pay for many "Audiophile" upgrades of any sort.
One is only $400 & the other is only $330 . I'll be getting one of these.
Once again, thanks for the info.
