Not whether they still exist, but they get ZERO pub, and I doubt anything made since is as good
I was wondering why the fell off the hi-end radar
Be a great item for component manufacturers to use at shows

Many tweaks are hot today and gone tomorrow. The buyer seems to go with what is in the spotlight at that time. Many of us have several types of footer, CD cleaner/conditioner, etc. It doesn't mean it is not a good and effective product.
Maybe so, but the last time I looked component manufacturers aren't into tweaks. Why would they wish to give the impression that their creations require any such aftermarket widget to sound it's best? If a component manufacturer really wished to put his best foot forward and present the best sound possible wouldn't he wish to use components at shows that were broken in? I am strongly in favor of static displays at the shows, it would be better for everyone and save a lot of hassle.

Why would anyone in the public care to attend a show full of static displays? I do agree to bring your run-in products though.

Have you heard the sound at the shows?
;-)
because I agree with Geoff, at least partly, I still like active displays but they tell you little about product under test and can do more harm then good with the sound some get....
"They can do more harm than good..."Exactly. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. Ever been in a room with really cool cutting edge equipment and speakers? All the press is there, all the advanced audiophiles are there. All the big dealers are there. Then someone puts something on and everyone in the room gets up and streams out of the room. Now, that can't be good for sales...

Win (mosin) and I have been to many shows together either presenting or harassing. I cannot tell you how many room did not sound good, what I can tell you is the Wilson Benesch / deHavilland room from a few years ago at RMAF still strikes me as an exceptional standout. Most mfg try to put too big a system in too small a room and/or I question some's ability to hear which opens another can of worms of how do you (they) design this stuff anyway?
Many, many times.
I'd still have zero interest in staring at static displays, room after room.
See ya. Dave
