Eli's approach works just fine but, if you're questioning the efficacy of the factory RCAs they are easy to replace. Parts Express can supply some small gold plated units that fit the hole of the removed OEM units. Then a new hole is added to provide the required clearance. Here's a couple of pics of an S3000IV & S3000V after replacement, the S3000s have the same issue.

Radio Shack sells L-shaped RCA adapters. You can see them here and another variety at the link below. These are skinny; put them on the Sherwood then spread them apart to attach your modern cables. I used these on my tube Citation gear also.
