Does anyone know if those flat skinny antennas that you affix to a window work as good as or better than a simple folded dipole? Also, can you use them for FM reception?
Follow Ups:
I am using one of the black square digital antenna whose spec included going down to channel 2. I looked at a number of this format and most do not have a special that goes low enough to work in the FM range. I bought it to test the area for OTA television. In the end I used another antenna and used the digital in place of a ribbon in my living room headphone system that uses a Sony STR6045. This particular antenna without the accessory preamp is showing stronger signal reception and yielding less noise so, at those times it has replaced the ribbon filed dipole.
I think the key is to make sure the spec includes going down to channel 2.

The commercial FM band lies between Channel 6 and Channel 7. Going down to Channel 2 is overkill, but certainly good enough.
A 1.71 M. 1/2 wave folded dipole is about right for 88 MHz.

These antennas I have found either go to chl 2 or start above chl 7 so, while I agree it need not go lower than 6, as far as I have found, none spec as 6 for a cutoff. I am not an antenna engineer but it should be simple to make one of these and cut to channel 6 & 7.

They might work for near stations that have decent power and directionally are lined up w/ the axis of detection....
size is what you want - smaller will not work
