Killing some time waiting for the UCONN/Kentucky game, soooooo...
I have a collection of about 10 vintage tuners. There is so much I like about FM as a source.
Usually only fire one up at a time for a "tuner of the day" but today (for reasons) I had them all fired up. Looked kinda neat so I snapped some pix. If your a tuner lover, hope you enjoy looking.
Follow Ups:
are they all hooked up to one antenna?
The rack looks great.
I wish, but each tuner has it's own antenna. Luckily a 300 ohm dipole works fine on them and I just let them hang vertically straight down the wall behind them.
I usually just pick one tuner to have on at a time and, if needed, I can easily orient the antenna horizontally but usually do fine as is.
Aesthetically, I'm partial to your classic Marantz blue dial tuners.
As a teenager, I'd go to my local hi-fi shop and lust after the Marantz gear I couldn't afford. That wall of blue is permanently etched in my memory.
I picked up a used Marantz 105 tuner years ago, just so I could satisfy that teenage hunger, which lingered. It's certainly not my best performing tuner, but the dial light does make me smile.
Thanks for posting your collection!
Thanks, I'm a sucker for looks also and love the Marantz blue. I have a 2270 receiver that makes me smile when I look at it, still a pretty blue. Some of them get a little greenish when the velum turns yellow. I see some people switch over to LED but I prefer the softer warmer blue of the incandescents.
I am still looking for a vintage tuner that will suit me - sonically and financially - but have started to use the integrated tuners in my two receivers - a Denon and a Rotel - and I am enjoying them, despite whatever shortcomings they have when compared to a dedicated tuner. Kind of stuck using an indoor antenna right now but hope to install an outdoor antenna at some point. I may end up with a solid state tuner but we will see.Anyway, I really enjoy listening to my local classical and jazz stations and have begun to appreciate radio again after years of only listening to the radios in vehicles.
Seeing all of your tuners powered up and looking lovely was a treat. Thank you, onemug!

What a nice post. Thanks Holly.I have used the expression, "my Brother from another Mother" many times with my close guy friends that have "very" similar tastes. I was looking at your system in your profile. You might be my "Sister from another Mother". Doesn't rhyme like the first one but here is what made me think of it...
I owned and loved a Carissa Signature for many years.
C & C Abbys sat in my home office for years. Had mine finished in a Walnut stain.
Never owned a Teres TT but if I was more into Vinyl, I would seriously consider one. They are beautiful.
I have a lot of love in my life and the main sources of it are my Wife, 2 pets (Golden Retrievers) and my love of music (listened to some Baroque yesterday and Jazz this morning).And...Colorado holds a dear spot in our lives.
I'm going to guess you enjoy listening to most of your music at lower levels than most people.

Wow, we do have similar tastes! Perhaps we are 'siblings once removed,' lol Sounds as if you have gone on to some different components for your system, but you still love music, your wife and your puppies, so all is well!
I don't know that I like listening to my music lower than most people - I will crank things up if something comes on that I really like - but, no, I am not into really heavy bass and loud music that makes the walls move and my ears bleed. Conversation at a normal level is still allowed, and quiet listening while reading or just for listening alone is preferred.
I think the reason I can't find the tuner I want is because you, my brother, already have it. ;-P

I was just about to take the "puppies" for a walk (actually they are 3 and 9 yrs, but Goldens never grow up) and saw your reply.
What tuner is it that I have that you "can't find"? I ask because I am thinking about listing my Marantz 20 here just for the weekend in case it's a small world.
lol - I still call my dogs 'puppies' even though the youngest one is 7 years old.
About my tuner comment - it was more of a bit of a joke because our musical/audio equipment preferences are so similar that I figured you must already have the tuner I want somewhere in your collection. :-D
I am still in the market for a tuner, but I need to find one that is much more 'low end' than the Marantz 20 - my budget, such as it is, would be happier with <$100. I am sure that you expect to sell your tuner for a lot more than that! There are a couple on eBay right now - one is up to $266 in the bidding process - and it needs some repair - while the other one has a BIN price of $700.

I have owned so many tuners in all price ranges. One I just bought and mentioned here from time to time is the Sony ST J75. It looks spartan but it is a real stunner. Not sure it is not better than the high end Marantz and McIntosh tuners that I owned and loved. It is really, really good.
Got it and a recommendation...
I had a Marantz ST6000 a few years ago. The "word" was that it was voiced like a 10b. Well, I owned them both at the same time and I'd say "they" were correct.
It sold for around 200 new, had a brushed black metal front face (not plastic), wide and narrow bands and inputs for two antennas with a switch on the front to select the best one (nice when you have different stations that need different antenna orientations).
I just looked on the Bay (looked here first but none) and there are two with buy it nows around 75. Maybe something that would work for you.
I put in a bid for a Marantz ST6000 last month; obviously, I did not win, but the ST6000 remains on my short list. I will keep a watch on these two, as well. Thank you for the heads up!
Holly
Thanks for the pictures!
Looks great!
I just went through my Mono collection-
2 Fisher FM-80s
1 Lafayette LT-80
1 Heathkit FM-4
and one series 80 / model 80T fisher
They all need cleaning and re-alignment....
One of these days
Happy listening

Your welcome. Thank you back at you.The Radio/Tuner forums don't seem to get much activity these days. Some people think the end is near but I get a lot of use out of my tuners. As mentioned below, besides having some good local stations, I use my own FM Transmitter to broadcast my own station throughout our house so the end is far away for me.

I've used a number of tuners ( perhaps the best was a Magnum Dynalab MD 90 ) but now I use a Denon TU 600 .
Luckily I'm able to pick up the CBC ( Canadian Broadcast Corporation ) with an attic antenna from a local transmitter. CBC has always had a reputation as providing a clean unprocessed signal- at least as much as possible. It sure sounds good to me.
Between the English and French stations I get many hours of classical and jazz every day with no commercials.
Tonic with Tim Tamashiro is one of my favorite when listening to R&B, Soul, Blues and Jazz programming on CBC Radio 2 that can be found at 102.1 on FM dial in Calgary from 8:00pm to 10:pm every night.
If a thing's worth doing, it's worth doing well
(Proverb)
Good to have them all going at once, so you don't miss anything. I would often be torn being radio stations.
Originally I treated this set up like a car radio, I'd put each tuner on a different station and use the preamp remote to change stations. These days I use an FM Transmitter that streams MOG (or whatever) to "my" spot on the dial. I only need to have one tuner on at a time (good for longevity) plus it sounds better than my local stations and no commercials.
