Mine was new also. I worked for a dealer as a tech/salesman at the time and got one of the first production run units, on accommodation no less. Used to drive Morris crazy constantly calling him as to when they were going to release it.
It was a really good for DX'ing, ran stacked FM-4G's w/ a TR-44 rotor.
You sure did luck out getting another.
Anyhow, would prefer a VI. Budget? Not really sure....
Thx,
John
Follow Ups:
btw, I personally like the VI more than the VIb. I like the levers as opposed to the pushbuttons.
That's exactly what I remember, lets not be a tease. ;))
What condition is the CRT in? Is it possible to find a replacement if needed?
Thanks for sharing,
John
Tease? Oh no, not me. :-) Just want you to stay hungry.
My CRT is in great shape, no burn marks and still bright. I like being able to adjust the brightness from the front panel. I run it somewhat dim so it will last longer.
I'm not sure what scope they use in it or how hard it would be to find one.
I hope you can find a VI. Post back here if you do.
Recently there was a Mark VI on Ebay and also a CRT only.....

Sorry I missed the one on ebay, any idea how much it sold for?
Thanks for posting the link about the tube. If I owned the tuner I would purchase it.
Thanks,
John
1st it was sold for $400, then was re-listed and retracted:
Thanks for posting, I sent an email to the seller to find out if its still available. The unit is located in Arizona.

this guy can help you as well...

Thanks for everyone's help. Interesting SAE sites.
The ebay seller responded and said he decided to keep the tuner for now.
I'll keep looking....
