Not all of them will command that price,,,some have gone as low as $300.

I paid for 1650 for mine five years ago from a friend that got it got 1300 on a local sale..I have never seen one for 300 other than a 310D that went for 326.
I do know the market fluctuates a lot tho..Marantz 10b tuners brought three and four grand and now they have dropped dramatically..I think in the case of the 10b tho,the market is flooded with them and it has a lot of issues that most techs don't know how to solve. That has hurt it's market price quite a bit..OTOH,you can't find 4310s,they just aren't out there.
Some people like second order distortion in their tube amps, some people like honesty in their tube amps. I like honest!
I agree with Mike, I hardly ever see the 4310 and they usually command a pretty penny.
SQ wise there is another Scott, 310, 312 or some such, model escapes me, said to sound almost as good as the 4310 but for a lot less. If memory serves it needs a multiplexer?I am sure there are those of you who could clear this up better than I.
Best,
Dave

The 310E was the last version of their top tube tuner until the 4310 was produced and is stereo. The preceding 310D is similar but needs an MPX decoder. Stephen Stone published a survey of the Scott tube tuners which you can view at the link below. The 312 (kit version LT-112) is Scott's first-generation solid-state tuner and highly regarded. The 4312 is the deluxe version of the 312 but uses Nuvistor tubes in the front end, as did the first versions of the 312 and LT-112.
