Hi, Mr. bill2:
It would interest me greatly to know what sort of updates were done on your Scott 310-E.
I owned one of those years ago and ultimately gave it away to a friend of mine. (I had picked it up for practically nothing in a local Berkeley recycling place. That was around 1980) Frankly, I did not think it sounded quite as nice as one of my Fisher tuners, specifically, a Model FM-100-B which I had updated by replacing the selenium rectifier and whatever old tired capacitors it contained with fresh stock, film types in general. The tuner seemed to be in good alignment, as well.
Please follow up on your upgrade.
Thanks!

Hi Richard,The details of the mod were not explained to me, other than they called it a "full Mapleshade mod" which to me implies other low alternatives.
Externally the only thing I see different is a new set of RCA jacks installed on the back replacing old ones. The internal changes were not divulged other than to say the mod could be deleted(ie brought back to original) in the future if I ever wanted to. Also I got the impression the mod was more subtractive than additive, but that it did include capacitor changes here and there and a full alignment for optimal performance.
I would suggest a call to Mapleshade for more specifics on this topic. Sorry I could not be more helpful, my knowledge in this field is very limited but luckily my ears tell me all I need to know. One of the first things that really struck me was, that it recreated the best concert hall effects I had ever heard from a tuner while listening to my local classical station. It really blew me away. Now granted the tuner was stock from the mid 60's so probably in need of a service but even before the mod, the Scott sounded great and actually better than my previous tuner it had replaced, an MD-102 an older ss model. So I wasn't expecting that much of an upgrade from stock to the Mapleshade mod, I was thinking more along the lines of a maintenance & tuning upgrade to bring it up to 2012 standards.
If you have any other questions you think I might be able to answer that I haven't addressed, please feel free to ask away.
Regards,
Bill
