Could you recommend a good two channel receiver with a good FM tuner in it. If it can play CD it is good, but not required.
I would like to listen to classical music through FM tuner.
I want ,at least, 100W/C at 8 ohm.
My price range is ~$1000, but can be flexible.
Thanks in advance.
McIntosh MAC4100 should do the trick and within your price range. Others:
JVC JR-S501 120 watts with a tuner that does well. What you lose in the difference if price between it and the MAC4100 is the refinement of the Mc plus the build quality but, the cost difference may be worth it.
With a lot of FM stations having converted to HD, the tuner must have filtering to eliminate the HD sidebands or the FM station will be unlistenable.
A Rotel RX-950AX had a very good sounding tuner section with HD immunity and a good amplifier section. Only issue is 50 watts RMS per channel, not the 100 watts as requested. This receiver normally sells for $100 used.
An option is the Rotel RT-950 AX or BX model tuner with a seperate high power amplifier. This tuner comes very close to the quality of my modified tube tuners with a little less high frequency extension.
The 18 and 19 have the Marantz 20 and 20b tuner basics inside them. They have less power than the 100 wpc you are asking for but they are pretty strong watts, especially the 19. I own them and listen to FM with them. Very pleased with their sound.More modern would be a Magnum Dynalab 208. Don't know how close you could come to a grand but in todays economy, who knows.

If you can drop about 4 dB (40 wpc), I'd recommend the vintage Harman/Kardon HK-930........ One of the best FM tuners I've heard, receiver or separate.
If you must have 100 wpc, I'd recommend either a used Onkyo TX-8500 (not Mk II) or Sansui G-901 DB (not G-9000 DB).
Outlaw 2150 rr for 699.00 100 watts with all the goodies and a super receiver
