A few years ago I tore a tendon in my arm while lifting weights, and had to have surgery. I was bored, so I started yanking speakers, and other equipment out of storage, and hooking things up to the system.
Then I got the bright idea to attach an FM antenna to the ceiling fan via bungee cords. It was great, because I could point it in different directions, and with the fan on, it became an omni!
Nah, just kidding about that last part.
With bursts of inspired genius such as these, is it any wonder I have long-term relationship issues?
I had mine on a tent pole sticking out of an automotive jack stand with the adjustable center piece removed all sitting on my coffeee table right next to the computer monitor. Worked beautifully. For some reason the ex didn't see the beauty of the situation and made me move it outside when she moved in. No wonder she became an ex....
I love it!
And you're right, women have no sense of humor about these things.

Or so my neighbors don't see me naked?
If the Signficant Other ever dumps me, that's what I'm doin'.
Do it now, and she'll be sure to dump you!
If I send the article to you, it might just trigger a sheila inter your life, see?!

Nah Timbo. Not because that's not a good idea, but because I'm going to practice what I preach and use a good roof-mount Yagi with a rotor. Thank you for the offer though.
Like I said, I my arm was in a sling, and I was looking for something to do. I had the small Yagi sitting there, so up on the ceiling fan it went. It was only on the fan for a few days, but it was so "on the bottom of the WAF scale" that I felt a picture was in order.
As soon as I was able to, I mounted it in the attic, pointed at my favorite station, and it's what I still use.
The five foot tripod has finally been mounted on the roof. As soon as I find the time to, I'll finish the job, and mount my better Yagi/rotor combo. I've had the good antenna in storage for ten years, and it's time to use it!
As for a Sheila in my life, maybe when the word gets out what type of reception I'm getting, they'll be lining up at my door.
Right.

I've tried both, Timbo, with some luck. I work a very erratic schedule, some days, some nights (in the same week), all 12 hour shifts, with never the same days off from week to week.
Not exactly conducive to attending things regularly, or even sleeping regularly.
Thanks for the advice though. I need to find a nurse. They understand crazy schedules.
Did it double as a Clothes line?
Not a bad idea!

The better sounding the piece of equipment is, the uglier and less WAF it has.
You're welcome!

I guess you won't turn on that ceiling fan...... ;-]
Sure you would! As I said in my post, the fan on "high" could spin the Yagi fast enough to have it serve as an omni-directional.
That is, until the coax would twist up enough to yank the tuner off the rack, sling it across the room, and smash me in the face, I mean!
If you do this, can you capture the video and post on YouTube? Thanks! [-;

You are either single or a hope to be.
For many years now. Between riding motorcycles, and the high-voltage hi-fi scattered about, it would take a very unique individual to put up with my shenanigans.
When I was in college in Flagstaff, I set up an outdoor FM Radio Shack antenna (12-element, nice antenna) in my apartment. Had one of those old floor-to-ceiling spring loaded lamps that I used to press it against the ceiling. I had a Pioneer F-28 at the time. Amazingly, I could get the Tucson NPR station in noisy stereo from my Flagstaff apartment. Quite an antenna and tuner. Of course, I had no wife acceptance factor back then. That Pioneer was an amazingly sensitive tuner. But the Scott 310E sounded better.
