I have an old Hickok 532. Not a bad unit. It's the first Hickok I've really had the chance to use, since all of the others I've come across needed repairs. In the manual, it refers to the gas test being for "amplifier" tubes. What does that mean exactly? Only power amplifier tubes like the 6L6, 6V6, EL34? Or? The manual isn't too specific on this point.
Thanks in advance
It just means that the gas test works only during transconductance tests. The gas test is not valid during an emission test, such as when testing rectifiers. It is also possible that some directly heated triodes/pentodes might have their test configured to test emission only.-Phil
