Can anyone send me a link to a photo of what a Tung-Sol "flat-plate" 5687 tubes look like? I purchased a pair of what are supposedly these tubes and their plates certainly don't look flat to me! I've asked online for images of Tung-Sol flat-plate" 5687 tubes and their plates don't look flat either. So why are they called flat-plate" 5687 tubes if their plates aren't flat and really don't look all that different from the other 5687 tubes I own?

Follow Ups:
The one on the right."ribbed plates" or "ladder plates" are a better names for them.
Most all 5687 have plates made like the one on the left.
The grid and cathode structure are turned 90 degrees WRT the 'left to right' width of the plate when compared to the ribbed plate 5687.
With the ribbed plate 5687 (picture below) the plate supports and the grid posts and cathode are "in line" with the width of the plate just like a 12ax7 or a 12au7.

I have both, in my stash. I haven't noticed a difference. These Tungsols are great tubes.
Thanks!

Fender while I haven't compared them yet. In addition to the Tung-Sol "flat-plate" or "ribbed-plate" as Tre' called them! I also have the 5687WA and 5687WB tubes. In fact I have to try the Bendix 6900 tubes in the driver position again now that I've gone back to single, fullrange, drivers in horns once again. 6 months ago I had to sell my Sachikos due to rising medical bills, and so for the past 6 months I was using Spatial Audio M3 Turbo S, OB speakers.
However try as I might via exchanging tubes and wires I just couldn't get the correct synergistic match in my system with the Spatial Audio M3 speakers. It was either that or it was my ear was fixed on the sonic traits of single, fullrange, drivers in horns. To that end I'm now using Lowther DX4 drivers ---{ with the large wooden, mushroom-shaped, phase plugs }--- loaded in both front & back-loaded horns in Beauhorn Virtuoso speakers!

Very tough tubes, as well as nice repro of music.
A long time ago, I help build a Matchless Hotbox knockoff pedal, using two TS 5687WA. The pedal owner has carted it around the country, dropping and abusing it -- from gig-to-gig and home-to-home. Last I heard, it's still working fine.
Good to see you back here, Tom. Hope all is well.
Thanks Todd. I've been going through some health problems, but things seem better lately!
