May your tubes be lively, warm, and long-lasting. Holy be thy heater.
This is it colored in! Well, half-colored, still some to go. Photo doesn't really do it justice. It's a continuous wrap-around piece.

But I know what I like, and I like that ink!
The whole concept of the sailing ship inside the glass bottle, but this particular glass bottle also has the ability to take you to far-away places, via music.
Very, very nice! Please post some more pictures when it's done.
Thanks!
Haha, thanks for the kind comments.
I basically threw a bunch of ideas to the man, and he put something totally wild together. He loved the acorn-style tube. Mashed together with my other ideas, he produced quite the piece.
I'm actually in another session on December 1st, updates soon!

The JJ is the only one I regret getting. :-)
That would be akin to getting some nondescript 2005 Nissan tattoo instead of a 1960s American muscle car.
If I were getting a tube tattoo I'm not sure what I would get, but it would be something exotic, perhaps even something unobtainium , as Eli Duttman likes to say.
Tungsol 6550. If it had to be a KT-88, then GEC/MOV.
The second picture looks 3d. Excellent work.
It looks more like a photograph than a cartoon-like drawing.
Whenever I see someone with ink of that quality, I always ask them what artist did it. There are a lot of good artists around, but far fewer great ones.
It's been at least ten years since my last tattoo, and lately I've been thinking about another one. Once you've had one, they get into your blood (you'll pardon the pun).
I never considered a vacuum tube before though. An LP, yes, but never a valve.
Ampeg SVT or SUNN amp Bass players! Real men, yes!

If you're playing arenas. The Stones used them for guitar and bass.
I'd played through one (with 8 X 10 cab), at an old amp techs garage. LOUD! I mean I could NOT hear myself play. But, felt the air hitting my legs, with every chord.Elliot Randall used an SVT for the intro to Steely Dan's "Reeling in the Years." My understanding is the engineers miked the setup in a room down the hall, to avoid board overload.

Do you say that because most of the tats look like a KT-88?
I was on a photography collection site yesterday, and happened to see a picture of someone with a light bulb tattoo. My first thought was, "Why in Hell...?" but then it made me wonder if anyone had any vacuum tube ink, so I did a search.

I love tubes but seriously. Not much significance to a tube tattoo, unless it has to do with some seriously deviant behavior.
I've got enough marks on my body so I don't need any more. I spent my career dealing with older people and have seen how tat's end up. I'm putting big money in mommy tat removal stock.
I'm thinking that(tattoo removal) will be a booming business as well. As my friend says about tattoos on attractive young ladies...." turns a 10 into a 5 ".
I like the look of that 32 year old mom pushing a kid in a stroller at the supermarket with those tats that scream - yeah it was a good idea at the time but now I growed all up. Like that hang over that never goes away.
Or I would like to hear how mommy explains the flaming skull to her kids. Well see mommy was "dating" this guy and he, well we would, NOW DON'T LET ME CATCH YOU DRINKING!
