Hello- my Triode Lab integrated tube amp takes a pair of EF806-S EF86 6267 preamp tubes, I plan on ordering a pair brand new JJ/Tesla I've been told that those tubes can't be matched, only power tubes can be matched, is it necessary to use matched tubes for preamp section?
Thanks,
Robert

The EF86 is a pentode, so yes, you can find (2) with close to same specs.
There are plenty of good NOS still out there that will probably do you better than a JJ. More expensive yes..but why not use the best?
As far as the "Oh..they're all microphonic BS" don't believe it. They got a bad rap because they were used in apps that applied too much voltage/current and made them microphonic. Vox AC-4/15 is an example. if good design parameters are adhered to, you won't have a problem.

It depends on circuit topology. Matched small signal tubes are not needed in a design that incorporates a global NFB loop.
Post the unit's schematic.
