Judging by how AI laid out theirs. Not speaking to the sound quality but a company as well known as AI could have laid out the OPTs any way that they wanted and choose to have theirs with the laminations in line instead of at 90 degrees to the PT, as convention dictates. And how does this amp sound? cheers.

Probably doesn't make much difference in a push-pull circuit. The secondary of the output transformers typically have a fair amount of 120 Hz common-mode energy applied at the CT from the power supply. That doesn't show up at the outputs unless it's extremely high.

But there is no such thing as a perfect split phase so there is going to be some noise artifacts that may not cancel, but instead sum. I think i hear it more now that i am using high efficiencey Altecs.
