Back to my original question. Has anyone tried the KT150 and what are your thoughts?

As no one has really compared one to the other.
The VAC page seems to have valid points but i sense that their negative viewpoint is because they are concerned that their products are not designed for that tube. Perhaps they did not get a good discount from the manufacturer if using their product? Who knows.
I have a SE amp that can use tubes up to the kt150 but i have not tried that. my amp sounds best with vintage Tung sol 6550. No holes black plates sound super nice. KT66 and EL37 sound excellent as well but the extra power from the 6550 wins out. All other tubes, not as good to my ears.
I agree: you are going to try them for yourself.
The valid points Mr. Hayes makes about the KT 120 apply to the KT 150. I notice the same 14% distortion figures are given for both tubes.
