Well if you ever end up with an 845 based amp, you'll probably find yourself liking Chinese tubes more than you might suspect. I can't fault what I'm hearing and the price is right. Plus I've never had any of them fail. On the other hand, a friend has had 2 T's fail, but they were readily replaced by the vendor. No problems since, so may have just been a faulty batch. Personally, I prefer the WE version, especially if the price fits your budget. On the other hand, if your dipping your toe in the water for the first time and a bit strapped for cash, the Shuguang 845B would be my choice. Easily the beer budget best buy IMHO.

The issue with 845 tube failing is that a lot don't survive shipping due to their large internals
I've never had an issue, but I know that has been a problem in the past. It looks like Grant Fidelity stopped selling the Shuguang 845B for that very reason. I've bought "B's" from them in the past with no issue, but it is what it is.
