I purchased a pair of tubes a while ago labeled Telefunken E88CC-01 from a fairly well known and recommended tube seller (not present on this site and I will not name him) who mostly specialized in octals. They do not have a diamond plate on the bottom but he nonetheless assured me they were Telefunkens. However, attempting to do some research on them I can not find any mention of a Telefunken E88CC-01. Nor do they look like any Telefunkens I could find images of. If anything they look like some Siemens ECC88s (actually I meant PCC88s).
So here are some photos (sorry for the quality, I'm terrible at taking pictures) and perhaps someone can identify them?
TIA

First, E88CC type 01 designation was only used by Mullard for select low noise tubes AKA CV2493. Telemfunken/Siemens never used that label.
Labels on your tubes are bogus. Also, even if it was Siemens E88CC, the pins should be gold for E88CC.
So, check and see if there is an etched code on the side with symbol #. Then it is Siemens PCC88 or ECC88.
If no etched code, then these are relabeled Matsushita E88CC Japan.
Hey Tubemonger,
I think I had some TFK E88CC with gold pins. Were these Siemens-made?
Thanks!
Glass bottle and curvature, base/pins and internals look genuine Telefunken for sure. You can confirm by checking the diamond bottom. Printing is proper too.

Telefunken for sure. You can find if these are ULM or Berlin production from the printed date code on the side. Beginning with U = Ulm and B = Berlin
What was the significance of the "eagle" stamp?
Thanks!
As others have mentioned, this stamp indicates Bundeswehr German Military stock/qualification.
In US people tend to call it Eagle and in Europe it is falcon. BWB is for Bundesamt für Wehrtechnik und Beschaffung roughly Federal Office of Defense Technology and Procurement.
You do have very fine specimen of these Telefunken E88CC.
Doesn't it have something to do with the German defense procurement system? Kind of like our JAN. I recall reading something about that eagle years and years ago.
yes, i does! BWB in the eagle symbol means that this item was (west)german forces sypply and was in army stock once.

There's no etched code. Yes, they look like Matsushita. Thank you.
That's another trademark I've noticed.
Cheers!
