It is my understanding that Pittman only made the 6l6 and that all other "Groove Tubes" were made in China or Russia.
Does Fender still own Grooves Tubes?
Is Fender making any tubes? (did they ever?) I don't think they are.

When I used to talk to them at Groove tubes,I was told that the 6CA7GE and the 6L6GE were made in the Sylmar California plant at first and the materials were mostly from a 1963 melt out for the plate and cathode materials that came with the machinery out of the old Kentucky plant.
Later they moved production to China but supposedly kept some of the US material according the ads we looked at that I posted.
Now..I was also told their other tubes that were designed by Groove tubes and they were built in Russia on GT machinery or setup at the Reflecktor plant..One was the KT66hp which was a 550v tube. The other was an E34LS which was a 30 watt tube made at the JJ plant for Groove tubes..The E34L was a 25 watt tube that belonged to JJ.
According to Myles, the guy was that handled the Ebay sales, told me this.

A few year ago a friend of mine was contemplating buying the equipment from that plant and going into production. He called me to get my opinion of the project.
I didn't know the 6ca7GE was ever made in Sylmar. Thanks for the info.

Aspen also made a 12ax7 and a 6ca7. All the same way as the 6l6. I sent off drawings for the 12ax7. Got the parts and shipped them off to China for final assembly. The first samples of the 12ax7m came during my last weeks. I left GT before the 6ca7 was started. You can read about it here http://www.guitaramplifierblueprinting.com/GTsecrets.html
All the other tubes were purchased in bulk from Russia, Germany, China, Serbia and tested at GT on the GT tube number system tester. Some preamp tubes were plugged into a guitar amp and tapped for microphonics.
Fender owns GT and has the tube tester equipment in Arizona.
I really don't know what Fender is actually doing with the GT6l6. Looks like the 12ax7m is no more. Don't know about the 6ca7.
It's good having you here because I like Groove tubes.
