Going on fourth year using this tube in guitar amps (mostly Fender 6L6GC amps than have OEM GZ34). Very reliable, strong voltage, quiet. Tough tube. If you can find some NOS... usually much better price than NOS Sylvania and GE which are going the $$$ way as Mullard GZ34s.

Those may not be mislabeled The 5V4 are both indirectly heated filaments and if you check the output B+,that might show you the difference.

B+ voltages are similar as Mullard GZ34 or Sylvania 5AR4. Structure is way different than a 5V4GA.Bias current on output tubes fall into 5AR4/GZ34 range. These tubes have no sag, like other tubes.

They are for sure 5ar4's. I have a stash. I got them when they were still cheapish. Great tubes.
I think the situation "parallels" that with what Sylvania did to fulfill a 6B4G contract, by internally triode wiring 6AV5Gs. Other than a slightly lower forward drop, a 5AR4 drops right into a socket intended to take a 5V4. Things easily could have been "close enough for government work".The picture posted sure shows what looks like a JAN box.
This time around, the tube end user community got a bonus. :> )

And now that i am "short timer" as i prefer to view my stay on this mortal coil, i don't even remember what day it is. Life is cruel. When you can do what you want, you have very little time to do it. cheers, Dak
I got a couple of these several years ago to use with my Nohr SE9. Got a really good deal on them as I recall. One of the best sounding rectifier tubes IMO!

...publicized it and took financial advantage of it at least a decade ago. I'm thought it was common knowledge.
