I had a little discussion with the ol' guy on ebay recently, he's totally fine with selling his snake oil. I think he'd be capable of putting on fake labels on tubes. It was this listing that grabbed my attention. Note the tube on the left which is obviously not manufactered by Telefunken.
https://www.ebay.nl/itm/301989951306
The listing says: "TELEFUNKEN ECC802S TRIPLE MICA ULTRA LOW NOISE TUBE . MADE IN THE EARLY 1970'S THIS TUBE IS A GENUINE EARLY 1970S TELEFUNKEN . THIS IS WHEN THEY DID NOT PUT THE <> BOTTOMS"
Our conversation:
Me: Hi, fyi: that tube on the left is a Siemens e82cc. Telefunken rebranded it. Nice tube still but it's not a once in a lifetime as you described it.
Ol' guy R: The Brimar gold pin is so that's what we are mainly talking about still that tekefunken is kind of rare
Me: The discription is factually wrong. Telefunken used the <> already in the 60s on all of their tubes.
Ol' guy R: Yep understand have a good one
*listing unchanged*

and the price , he is smokin's.
Brimar never gold plated any version of ECC81/CV4024 etc. Gold plating is fake and new just like a long time back someone was pedaling Telefunken ECC83 tubes with fake gold plating.
