Absolutely not.There is definitely a sonic difference and I think the ultimate reason is the operational temperature of the tube when pushed harder.

I found mine to be overly dark and a softer presentation. but again that is in my amp and my findings alone. The GL are pretty darn nice in there. Full robust and vintage sounding but clean.
I wish I had a dollar for every time I have read that something in the audio chain makes no sonic difference. People are always going on-line and proclaiming they hear no difference between interconnects, power cords, capacitors, etc etc. They always credit someone else's imagination. It's kind of funny in a way.
I think most everyone here knows that anything in the signal path has some sort of effect. Even down to the solder used in a connection.
However the people that scare me are that small group that puts an illusionary amount of effect on one particular "part". They spend huge amounts of time and money and are generally "hyped" out of their money. And I'm not taking about a line stage tube.
It's all good. We all have our own path to explore.
