If you can build a kit you can assemble a custom, made to your own desires kind of amp. It is a much more satisfying project to do bringing parts together for a nice sounding amp. A single ended pentode amp is about the easiest thing to make. 2 gain stages, 3 tubes for low heat output ( with SS rectification ) and far less parts.

Tubelab Simple SE with SS rectifier shouldn't get too hot and way easy to build with the detailed instructions.
Mine sounds great.
Single ended means Class "A" operation. The theoretical max. efficiency for Class "A" is 50%. In the real world, 40% is about right for a full pentode mode "final". Of the 12 or so W. a 6BQ5's plate dissipates, 7 W. heat the listening space. The OP's Arizona abode makes that a non-starter.
Getting a near Class "B" PP setup sounding good is work. However, it's the only way the Laws of Physics allow the space heating problem to be managed. FWIW, the theoretical max. efficiency of Class "B" is 78.5%. Again, real world results don't match theory, but getting close to 70% beats the living guano out of 40%, when room heating effects are of great importance.
