WAG... mid 1950s GEC-MOV KT-66. I believe K = 1954. Do these tubes have the CV 1055 label?
Follow Ups:
Nothing else is written on the glass envelope. Is there a site you can recommend that has the codes for the GEC codes.
WAG.. K = 1954. I have seen "H" stamped K-66 labeled as 1951 issues.J = 10th month. October.
Not sure what the "10" means. AFAIK, all smoked glass 1950s made KT-66 tube were made at the Hammersmith (Z), Perismith (ZB) or Gateshead (ZA) factories.
These are listed as 1951 made (H). No factory stamp.
There are 1961 (S). Hammersmith Factory (Z).

Thanks, much appreciated. Must go through the rest of the KT66's (27 and a box full of 88's a put a slip of paper designating age and factory. It will make for an interesting project. I have had them for over 20 years and forgot I even had most of them. Just goes to show how we accumulate possessions and don't really need them.

Those are some of the best 6L6GC type tubes ever made. IMHO. Very clean tone and powerful.
And so very hard to find good ones (at any price), these days.

I like these tubes a lot and I also have 3 quads of NIB/NOS gray glass however,I'm assuming they aren't matched up because I got them from five didn't sources..If I check them, they may be closer than I think.
Here is the funny thing. These were standard tubes in the Heath W5ms but for some reason the RCA 6L6gc black plates sound better in the W5ms.I think it may matched better to the amp or maybe because the RCA are an actual black plate where the gray glass are also a gray plate under the bottle.I found this out busting open a shorted one.
I really like the KT66 reissues. They are a tiny but strident at first but once they break in,they become a different tube.

I will not be trying the reissues any time soon.
None, I might ask you the same.

Great tubes
I have quite a few RCA 6L6g but I also have a lot of EL37s and that is one of my favorite 6L6s as well. The ultimate 6L6 would be the Western Electric 350b.

I think the GEC KT66 is the best sounding audio valve I have ever heard on my system. I should pull out my Quad 11's and get them serviced as I put them away at the same time as the 66's. I see them bringing some serious money on ebay these days, tempted as I have a guy offering me $300.00 for a matched used pair that measure over 70%. That will not be a problem but I just found out that he has about 6 x 1930's RCA spring filament suspension mono plates in his collection, might do a trade with him as I have been looking for a another pair to go with mine.

I know..I just commented on that other day..For the longest time you could pick up NOS/NIB pairs of Genelex/GEC KT88s on ebay for 450usd to 550usd and this was back in Jan to Apr 2016 and now all vintage tubes seem to be on the upswing..It makes me wonder if the New Sensor reissues changed the formula for the KT66 and KT88 because the reissue KT66s are awfully close sonically to the original gray glass..

He sent me pictures of what he has and they are the "H" type 2A3, obviously does not know what he is talking about. Pity as I need 2 more otherwise I will sell what I have. Waste of time holding on to these as I have been looking locally for about 15 years for another pair. With the prices they are fetching I am afraid they are out of my price range.

"2a3-H Indirect heated cathode version of 2A3" http://www.radiomuseum.org/tubes/tube_2a3h.html6a5s should be easy to find. Same thing but 6.3 volt.

I have 6A3's but the 2A3 mono plate appeals more to me.
Might just stick to the KT88/6550 amp.
