Some confusion as to whether these newly made tubes are built on original GE Owensboro machinery, in China. Or whether made using only Chinese equipment.
Anyone try them? Thanks!

I was the engineer at GT when this tube was first manufactured. After I was done with the Ditto Box Aspen handed me a NOS GE6l6gt and told me "crack this open and send the plate and mica out to get quotes". The first run had plates punched from a NOS roll of ITT metal that was punched by AFAIK the only USA landed 4 phase punch. It was located in Orange County. The mica spacers were made by the same company that did the mica spacers for the original GE6l6 and the last runs of the green print tubes in the 80's. I can't remember the name of the company but I think they were in Illinois. The filament wire was sourced from India. I don't know about the grid wire or the cathode material. All the parts were sent to a tube factory in China to be assembled. Aspen really wanted to actually assemble at GT but it just couldn't happen. He had 2 RCA grid winders, a Russian RF getter flasher and a glass forming carousel all setup and ready. But the reality of actually staffing this proved too much at the time. This was in the lackluster post 911 economy.

On the ones I have seen, the internals look exactly like GE. They sound excellent, but I have seen a few go dead shorted, and others that were pretty microphonic. Of course, NOS tubes can have those problems as well.
They;re also quite pricey.

I have a quad of the originals 6L6GE and they are absolutely fantastic..I got them for 50% off the retail of 200 dollars per quad but they were worth it..They were made in California on the original machines and most of the original materials even..They also did this with the 6CA7...Later they moved production to China when Fender bought them and I have no idea how they are now but if Shuggie is making them,I would guess they are pretty good.Try to get the made in USA ones.

Thanks! The reissues look a lot like Shuguang made 6L6GC. In fatter bottles.
Just checked Musicians Friend's site , a seller I've used many times over the years. As well as being made in China ,the cost of a quad is $559.96!!!!!
