You have not damaged anything.
Replace both tubes.
If you still have problems you will have to take it to a repair shop as you have either a resistor or capacitor that failed.

You are correct. Thanks. New (old) Mullards are now in and I have my stereo back.
Those CJ Russian tubes sure lasted a long time (w/ no degradation that I notice, even compared to the ones that I just installed).
They had daily use for > 10 years. I estimate easily > > 10k hours.
The Brimar in my Anthem AMP 2 SE power amp input has gone about as long so far. Actually, I have switched that one once with its mate which just sits there with its heater in series.
What tubes are you using in the CJ?
If you are using Mullards they tend to eat tubes up. So using rare tubes would be a waste.
The type that Upscale Audio recommenced (NOS made in GB that he called Mullards I believe) since he also said this pre eats up tubes. But the Russian Electroharmonix from CJ lasted over 10 years, so I don't understand such statements about this eating up tubes.
In any case, I was wrong about sonic degradation on the CJ EH ones since I did notice that cymbals, etc. were not a clean as before.
W/ the Mullards, this is back to normal, but these never have any soundstage depth, so, I expect that I will order a set from CJ. The Mullards also do not sound as lush or romantic as I like; less musical, much less engaging. The only thing that they sound good with is like chamber music strings, but it's more analytical, although with great timbre.
I found that Herbies tube dampers don't seem to help the sound of the Mullards, unlike the ElectroHarmonix.
I hate to say it because I have to take the same advice. but just replace those tubes ever 9-12 months. regardless if they need it or not.
Again, it's hard taking MY OWN advice as well when dealing with a $50 GL 6922!!!!
But as you notice before they get noisy then do gradually start to loose that sparkle.
Also try the gold lions.

Unlike a couple of years ago, they seem to be sounding better now. They may never develop the soundstage depth of the EH tubes - I don't know. But they are becoming more enjoyable and balanced.
Stay with Eh ,the best you can find !
My 2 cents
Sorry sometimes i'am a bit dislessic ....
iwanted to say :stay with the best 12 ax7 eh you can find ;or in
crescent price order :ei 12ax 7 ,Tungsram 12 ax7 (best )
I run a pair of Tungsram 12 ax7 (ecc83)in v1 and v2 position
in my premier 3 since 10 years ;every time i try ei (original
c-j )or Eh > i turn back to Tungsram .
The best new tubes choice :well selected Eh (don't wasre money
in mullard reissue, gold lion or tung sol reissue ):c-j
