I scanned the opening page briefly and caught this .... This is a tube that I enjoy immensely. Bass is very propulsive and visceral and grabs you at first listen.I smoothly exit pages that spew statements such as this, with rosey hues and liquid highs....and propulsive bass.
snip: A tube with what is imo a slightly dark and effortlessly natural sound.
Yeah, that's it...lush, with a bit of darkness...maybe a tad chocolately, bittersweet?

I think we all agree that different 6sn7s sound different. A Sylvania 6sn7W sounds quite different than a grey glass RCA VT-231.
How would YOU describe the difference?
I don't. I never invoke any kind of description of a tube's sound when one goes out the door. It's a matter of take it home and try it in their gear, with their ears. Not mine. Don't like it? Bring it back and try again.
My ears are not on their head.

I think it comes down to guys doing their best to describe how differences in sound seem to them. Nothing wrong with that except we really don't have rules for describing it, or a settled set of defined terms. I too find some of the descriptive prose over the top, but I try to find the meat and skip the fat.
What can I say? It's clearly not a collection scholarly writings. Unless of course you approach it from a creative writing angle. In between the hyperbole and overly flowery descriptions there is some good info there, and it does cover a boatload of different 6SN7s.
I agree there's some good basic information there. I just don't understand why people think the syrup and sprinkles on the descriptions is necessary. It means nothing.
