I have autoformer line preamplifier in the system. So thanks for your concern.
I used to have a TL50+
Believe it or not it was left behind a local pub by the dustbins - picked it up for nothing.
I rebuilt it a bit, but personally I didn't like the sound much. Perhaps it was the rats and squirrels inside it....
It sounds really good on the latest version of Tannoy Westminster Royal!
Make sure the amplifier with right components for refurbishment, such as AB carbon resistor, Siemens oil cap and the 600v cap I sourced online.
Notice how the cap fits perfectly into the old can?
This is a 30uf at 600v poly film
Here is one of my old ones I'm restoring that blew the old cap out and I have to clean up the crud underneath but you want to use film caps in olace of the electrolytics as you don't need tons of capacitance and it sounds good with it.What you can do is hollow out the old can cap and stuff a 30uf at 600v in the old can cap..The CDE and the Unlytics fit right in the hole and you have plenty of room left over..I then glued another one underneath and that way you can maintain the original look..30uf is more than enough when its a poly film cap as they are so efficient
