I picked up an identical matched pair a little while ago, but I finally put them in this afternoon, replacing a pair of Chinese 6L6GCR tubes.
They are running at 18.5 watt dissipation (98%), but are NOT red plating at all.
LOL....close only counts in horse shoes.
This is a homebrew 6L6/EL34 SEUL integrated amplifier, with quite a number of chassis surface test points for voltages.
Running in the amp, the two Sylvania 6l6Gb tubes are VERY closely matched (1ma)!
I'm running a pair of early 70s Dynaco A-10 speakers, that have been modified with film capacitors and more modern VIFA D27 1" soft dome tweeters.
It gets quite loud at only 50% of the volume knob.
Turn it up, and it will blow you out of the room.
First up on the playing rotation was Buddy Miller's Cruel Moon CD.Very nice, with good separation and a reasonable amount of bass extension, despite the small bookshelf speakers used!!
I intend to do a more extensive listening session tonight.
But I'm really enjoying those NOS Sylvania tubes for now!Steve

I ended up replacing a GE 5UGB rectifier tube, with an RCA 5R4GB rectifier tube.
That lowered the B+ enough, so that instead of plate dissipation being 98%, it is now 86%.

I've built a couple of amps around the mil spec Sylvania 6L6GA. These are not made as tough as the 6L6GC --- you may want to reduce the output to about 65-75% of max.
Is the amp running in Class "A" or AB? Push-pull?
Class A
OK, Class "A." These tubes must sound wonderful. I'd make sure heat is gently being removed from the area those 6L6GB tube sit. Good examples of those tubes are getting harder to find.
I use a 5 inch DC pancake fan to cool the tubes down.
Steve
Actually, the tube usually can handle the heat, as long as there is adequate area. The circuit boards around the tubes is often heat damaged over time. Esp in Class "A" amps.
Enjoy those tubes. I love the early 6L6 iterations.
