Try a Harrison Labs -12dB attenuator at the input of your center channel amplifier. From what you just said, you absolutely do not want more gain between AVR and center channel amplifier.

The AVR is dropping the other channels 10db to match the center. My last post did not read the way I intended it.
Yeah, if this is the case, the -12dB attenuator on the center channel amp will accomplish what you're looking for.
