nevertheless the PCC189 seems to be one of the finest replacement for ECC88 types. abusing them for fraud does not really make sense then.
The times, they are changing...
Follow Ups:
The PCC88 may be an "OK" substitute for the ECC88/6DJ8. OTOH, the PCC189 is, except for its heater, identical to the E189CC/6ES8, which is a NON-LINEAR variable μ type.
The 6ES8 should be, as originally intended, employed in RF circuitry, with AGC. The type should not be used in HIFI equipment.
The OP's wrath is, most definitely, not misplaced. Double fraud has been committed. :> ((

Hello Eli,
if PCC189 is the variable mu type, that makes it even worse.
Of course I can not post links to dealer's websites here, but I have seen several offering those as Siemens ECC88, and on the bottem side of the tube is the EI small printing code on it, which translates in EI PCC189. Simply in their web shop, pictured like that. I have a link in my first post about this. This is a gigantic quantity, it were MANY thousands.
There are some people who think if a 7.2V tube "seems" to work well at 6.3V after testing, you're basically ok. Well, then you should buy them :)
Only problem is, the cathode will poison due to underheating.
