This is my first tube roll so I waited a while before writing anything. Things changed so much in the first day or so I wanted to be sure that what I describe is what I hear all the time.
These tubes went into my Mystere ca 21 preamp. I've had this piece for a few years and love the music it makes. I don't really know what the stock tubes were in this unit but they sounded great. Once the Tung Sols settled in what I heard was quiet. With that quiet came a sound stage that was much deeper and wider then before with so much air and micro detail it was stunning. This is the most lifelike my system has been. Instrument separation has improved and vocals, both male and female, are dead center and in the room real. Classical music has more body and the quietness I mentioned really makes the softer passages pop.
Thanks to you guys I was able to research and get a lot of answers and info before I spent a dime. I can see how you can get hooked on this. My choice came down between the Sylvania's and the Tung Sols. What I'm hearing now is not just different but better. More detail without being bright. A lower noise floor that brings everything more into focus.
The Tung Sols 6sn7gt"mouse ears" have made it all better. More lifelike, non fatiguing, more enjoyable.

Welcome to the club of tube rolling! One of the great things about the 6SN-7 tubes is that there are so damn many good ones available. Yes, the Mouse Ears are very good in many applications. Another good one are the Ratheons. A lot of 6SN-7 articles out there to read to keep you busy. Read up and experiment. Some of those old RCA black glass tubes are also quite good. Enjoy!
