Yes- same print on tube base, plate structure is the same, the price however was very different.
EIA code 280 = Raytheon
There were tubes labeled Bendix that weren't the famous Bendix Red Bank tubes. They were mostly labeled "Bendix Radio", and usually were rebrands from other makers. Only the name is the same on these, they are by NO means equivalent to the Eatontown, NJ made Red Bank tubes.BTW, while the 5692 and other red base RCAs are nice tubes - don't put them in the same class as the Red Bank tubes. A real Red Bank tube will take a pounding that would leave the RCA just a burnt smoking cinder.
If you'd like to learn the real story about Bendix and Red Bank tubes get Charles Hansen's nice little book "A History of Bendix Red Bank Tubes" if you can find one. It was published by Audio Amateur - and NO, you can't have mine!

I've tried the Bendix Red Bank 6106 -- a direct replacement for the 5Y3. I thought it was a superb rectifier and better than any other 5Y3.Am I remembering this correctly -- that some of the Bendix Red Bank versions of popular tubes are not direct replacements as their pin configurations are non-standard?
I've never located the Hansen book despite some effort, but Eric Barbour wrote an article in Vacuum Tube Valley about the Bendix Red Bank tubes. It's in issue #5 if you have your CD handy -- or here:

I am using it on my single ended RH 6V6/6L6 amp. Sometimes I will even use my 5992 with the 6106. The 5992 is also a good sounding but I did not really try to compare the sound of it versus my other 6v6. But on top of that the Bendix 5992 is even more impressive looking than the 6106. Cheers, Dak
